Da Mack used to be a wrestler himself. His path crossed that of Alex, aka Thumbtack Jack, more than once. This created a bond that has outlasted both their careers and brought the two back together in front of the microphones for PRO TALK on the Spotfight Wrestling Podcast.

A small tribute to Thumbtack Jack – aka Alex!
Ladies, gentlemen and everyone who’s only here for the wrestling action figures!
Back in the day, he stood in the ring, dished it out and probably took more of a beating than a copy-shop printer.
His name: Alex! His ring name: Thumbtack Jack!
He has since traded the thumbtacks for a microphone and a podcast. Instead of hitting the mat himself, these days he’d rather analyse how others do it, professionally or semi-professionally. That’s not only more relaxed but also a lot easier on his health insurance.
When Alex isn’t philosophising about wrestling or lovingly sorting his action figures, he devotes his time to classic films. Some men mature with age – Alex, on the other hand, diligently collects figures of men who were still kicking butt in the ’80s and ’90s.
All jokes aside: Behind Thumbtack Jack is an incredibly warm-hearted, educated and humorous person. Someone who has a lot to give to others, even if he sometimes forgets how much he really has to offer.
Right now, life may not exactly be his WrestleMania main event. The job search is ongoing, his mind sometimes follows its own script, and his self-confidence occasionally sits backstage, refusing to make its entrance.
But hey: Even the biggest wrestling legends had their comeback stories!
And that’s exactly why Alex’s story is far from over. What’s waiting out there may not be the next title belt, but a job that suits him, new opportunities and plenty of reasons to believe in himself again.
So, dear Alex: Stay as warm-hearted, as smart and as wonderfully dorky as you are. Don’t let life get the better of you, because even when it puts you on the mat, you know better than anyone: The fight isn’t over until the bell rings!
And until then: Mic on, start the podcast, get the action figures into position – and never forget:
Thumbtack Jack may have left the ring.
But a legend never retires. It just changes formats!
